Recall Virtual Brainstorm

Thanks again for your help. Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.
Comments:
Perhaps they could sponsor workshops about how to deal with lost documents--such as previous tax returns, wills, deeds, etc. and giving tips about proper emergency document storage procedures.

Love the idea about recreating docs. Maybe you can host a seminar (or Document Recovery Day) that will actually help people do it in real time - have the financial advisors there, some healthcare partners, a mortgage company. Citizens can go from table to table to help recreate their paper trails. (Are there national databases that Recall can tap into to get this done?)

Is there any way to tactfully leverage the company name of Recall, and play a bit to people's memories and recollections of their beloved city? Certainly the financial paper trails are lost, but gone also are family photographs and genealogical information. Could you combine Document Recovery Day with a Family History Recovery Day? Set up video booths where people could step in and tell family stories, that are safely recorded on DVD.

With hurricane season starting in just over two weeks I think a campaign leading up to the July meeting date might help generate buzz. Perhaps you can create tip sheets, matte releases and Audio News Releases that help explain the importance of backing up valuable data - even for new/replacement items that were destroyed during Katrina (new medical records, financial records, your will, etc.) - kind of boring, but it could get out some important messages locally.

I also really like Carol's idea - I think that "recalling" memories would go over extremely well and would be a really meaningful project for all involved.

Here are a few other random thoughts that come to mind when brainstorming:

-Ticker-tape parade around July 4th - the ticker-tape is made out of shredded documents

-As N.O. continues to rebuild it might be neat to have Recall help create a digital time capsule that includes historical items that survived Katrina and new fresher items that have been rebuilt or created from scratch (so the future can learn from the past)

-How's this for a visual: fill up the Superdome with shredded documents

-Team up with local partners to create a house that is 100% prepared for the worst - kind of like "worst case scenarios." It might be neat to have local builders, architects, security companies, etc. to build a house that can withstand everything - and Recall can be there to help provide data backup so that everything is virtual or stored off-site

-I'm sure there is still a lot of trash around the area - team up with trash companies, recycling companies and loads of volunteers to have a clean-up day. Recall and recycling companies can be on-hand to help educate proper disposal of certain items. One of the things I recall from living in an area destroyed by flood waters was the amount of trash that hung around for years after the disaster.
